Fox River is a leading U.S. manufacturer of outdoor, sport and lifestyle performance socks since 1900. Fox River is privately owned and operates a hosiery mill in Osage, Iowa at the heart of the country. The central location of the mill helps Fox River offer quick, convenient deliveries across the country and around the globe. Fox River’s premium and performance socks are manufactured at its Iowa headquarters by 200 of the friendliest, hard-working folks you’ll ever meet. Fox River socks have been made in the USA since 1900 and the brand is committed to remaining American-made.
The Fox River brand is known for its commitment to innovative sock construction and continuous attention to trends in the marketplace. Notably, the brand introduced its signature Wick Dry® moisture management technology in 1985 to help keep feet dry and reduce the moisture build-up that can lead to hot spots and blisters. In 2000, Fox River launched the industry’s first women’s specific-fit performance sock line with smaller toe boxes and heel pockets to better fit women’s feet.
In 2011, Fox River continued its commitment to a better fit with Fox River’s URfit™ personalized fit system (Ultimate Response Fit System) – which combines many of the brand’s popular construction techniques including memory-knit construction, contour rib top and spandex compression zones – for a personal fit that forms to your foot.
Serving nearly every category out there, Fox River makes styles for the outdoor, snow sports, sport, workwear, military, women’s, kids’ and crafting industries. Fox River socks are made from a variety of fiber options including wool (Merino and worsted), premium synthetics, acrylic, nylon and more. No other brand has more experience in designing and constructing a better performing sock than the America’s oldest sock brand, Fox River.
Fox River’s more than a century of experience provides them with a unique perspective of industry trends, construction techniques, fiber options, consumer behaviors and dealer needs. Their products are developed with this perspective in mind, to support their dealer partners and meet the needs of today’s savvy consumer.
ABOUT THE MILL
Where We Make Our Socks
The Fox River Mills factory today, while not the original mill, still includes much of the 1971 structure, with several large additions bringing the size of the Mill to more than 250,000 square feet — just over 5 acres — under one roof. The Mill today features many state-of-the-art improvements that we’ve done to enhance efficiency and reduce the impact on the environment. We’ve found ways to re-use air and water within the Mill that helps us maintain our low impact on the local environment — saving nearly 27 million gallons of water over the last 4 years. And we recycle more than 400,000 pounds (or more than 200 tons) of materials including paper products, plastics, and even the excess yarn trimmings from toe seaming. Throughout the years we’ve also done things like energy efficient lighting on the knit floor, which reduces energy usage but also is great for color matching yarns and samples. And our softening and pre-shrink processes use fewer chemicals than many others. Our organic shrink treatment is so safe you could drink it. We do all of this not just because it makes sense from an efficiency stand point, but also because it’s the right thing to do for our employees and community.
